Abstract
O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em mensurar o desenvolvimento rural e identificar suas diferencas entre as regioes do Rio Grande do Sul para os anos de 2000 e 2010. Como procedimentos metodologicos, foram utilizadas a analise fatorial e a construcao de um Indice de Desenvolvimento Rural (IDR). Existem regioes com padroes de desenvolvimento rural divergentes dentro do territorio gaucho, demonstrando a heterogeneidade desse fenomeno dentro da realidade gaucha. As mesorregioes Centro Ocidental, Sudeste, Sudoeste e Metropolitana apresentaram os menores IDR. Ja as mesorregioes Nordeste, Noroeste e Centro Oriental apresentam os maiores IDR. Entretanto, alguns municipios dessas mesorregioes apresentam baixo desenvolvimento rural. The mesoregions of the Center West, Southeast, Southwest and Metropolitan Area had the lowest IDR. The mesoregions of the Northeast, Northwest and Center East, on the other hand, have higher IDR. However, some municipalities from these mesoregions have a low level of rural development.
