Abstract

The antioxidant activity in vitro of water extract of ten kinds of tea(raw and ripened pu-erh with different storage time) was studied and the contents of tea polyphenols and catechin were determined. Results showed that TP and catechin contents in raw pu-erh tea were significantly higher than those of raped pu-erh.TP and catechins contents in both raw and raped pu-erh decreased with the increase of storage years. The IC50 values of the tea water extracts were 0.254~0.720 mg/mL and 2.369~5.837 mg/mL for scavenging DPPH and oxygen free radical, respectively. The EC50 of the tea extracts was 0.180~0.427 mg/mL.
