Abstract
Thirty five genotypes of brinjal were studied for genetic diversity. The genotypes were grouped into six clusters irrespective of geographic divergence, indicating no parallelism between geographic and genetic diversity. Cluster I was very large comprising of 30 genotypes, while others were solitary clusters. The maximum intercluster distance was obtained between cluster V and VI followed by cluster III and VI as well as Cluster II and VI which may serve as potential genotypes for hybridization programme. Fruit length, fruit diameter, number of branches per plant and plant height an important role in divergence between the population.
