Effects of different bulking agents on cattle manure composting.

Abstract

【Objective and Method】The study was conducted to determine and analyze the effects of different bulking agents on cattle manure composting by detecting the temperature,pH value,and total bacteria composting processes and adding microbes,corn stalk,natural earthworms to the fresh cattle manure,using the natural cattle composting as control.【Result】The results indicated that inoculating microbes significantly increased the rising of the temperature and quickened the process of composting,among which the temperature used in the bacteria composting was 16.6℃ higher than that of the control,the high thermophilic phase appearing 4 days earlier compared with the control.The peak temperature of the corn stalk treated was not as high as 50℃,the whole process of composting was not bulking.The fact that all the earthworms died on the third day of composting while adding them to the cattle manure proves that wild earthworms will not suitable for the composting.【Conclusion】In the whole process of composting,the total bacteria composting ranked first while adding microbes,which demonstrates that addition of adequate amount of microbes can accelerate the maturity of the compost and shorten the composting period.
