Abstract

We propose that the Pomeron is a Regge trajectory of tensor glueballs with the lightest member having a mass in the 2.2 GeV region and the quantum numbers I(superscript G)J(superscript PC) 0(superscript +) 2(superscript ++). By using the well-established high-energy proton-proton elastic scattering differential cross sections, we show that our conjecture is fully consistent with the observed production data.
