Abstract

To develop integrated pest management strategy against major pests and diseases of jute five treatments viz. T1 = IPM for disease only i.e., seed treatment with bavistin followed by foliar application at disease level beyond 2% and soil application of Trichoderma viride @ 12 × 106 spores/ml at sowing time; T2 = IPM for pest only where application of neem oil [@ 4 ml/lit of water during 6 weeks after sowing (WAS)] and application of endosulfan @ 1 ml/lit + Beauveria bassiana @ 107 spores/ml during 10 WAS) was carried out; T3 = IPM for both pests and disease (combination of T1 and T2); T4 = recommended practice (seed treatment followed by foliar application of bavistin; application of endosulfan @ 2 ml/lit during 6–7 WAS and two more sprays at 15 days interval) and T5 = control [no treatment] were used. Treatment T1 resulted in strong inhibition of disease and T4 provided effective control of pests. However, considering the three parameters viz., pests, disease and fibre yield T3 was better than other treatments.
