Abstract
Forty eight genotypes were evaluated in a randomized block design with three replications in Chickpea during rabiseason for three years (2007–08, 2008–09 and 2009–2010) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sitapur, U.P. under rain-fed condition. Normal agronomic package and practices was adopted during the cropping season. Data recorded for nine characters showedthat seed yield per plant was observed to have highly significant and positive correlation with biomass/plant, branches/plant andharvest index. Biological yield per plant showed highly significant positive correlation with number of branches/plant, and harvest index. Path analysis indicated direct positive effect of seed yield with branches/plant, pods/plant, harvest index and biomass per plant. Thus, in chickpea number of pods should be increased by increasing number of branches and selection could be practiced for high biomass.
