Abstract
At this Vietnamese American commemoration under a Vietnamese American-built monument, the dead were present because they were mourned. Not particularly the women and the children and the men without ranks or guns. Not particularly North Vietnamese. We will address these absences. But at least the dead here remained Vietnamese. These men had their Vietnamese names uttered, their Vietnamese deaths imagined.
