Abstract

The emergence of strains of Plasmodium falciparum malaria which are resistant to treatment with chloroquine, the drug of choice, is a problem to physicians in South-East Asia who are treating malaria. The following case is presented to illustrate the high doses of quinine which may sometimes be required to control such an infection.
