Abstract
The experimental materials consisting of 40 genotypes of rice were grown during Rabi 2009–10 to study genetic variability and correlation between yields, yield components in rice genotypes. Analysis of variance was highly significant for all the characters studied, indicating ample scope of selection. High magnitude of GCV and PCV were recorded for seed yield/plant followed by biological yield/plant. High heritability was recorded for all most all characters except for no. of tillers/hill, flag leaf width, and test weight while, high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean was recorded for biological yield/plant followed by Seed yield/plant and no. of spikelets/panicle. However, high heritability coupled with moderate genetic advance was observed for days to 50 flowering, no. of tillers/hill and test weight. Seed yield/plant had significant positive association with all the characters except days to 50% flowering and panicle length. The study revealed that greater emphasis should be given to these characters for yield improvement.
