Abstract
Field experiments were conducted at the Sree Murali Manohar Town Post Graduate College, Balliah district, during 2005–2006 to 2006–2007, to evaluate the effect of different treatments, viz., FYM, green leaf manure, vermicompost and poultry manure. T1, 100% NPK as RDF (40:60:40 Kg/ha), T2, 50% NPK+ 5t FYM/ha, T3, GLM (green leaf manuarying) 10 tonnes/ha + 10 tonnes FYM;T4 – 100% N throughvarmi compost/ha and T5 – 100% N through poultry manuare ha. Effect of amendments per treatment on herbage yield was determined. It was found that all the treatments increased the herbage yield. Maximum herbage yield increased lemon grass treatments T5. Content and uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S in plants were also determined. It was observed that application of different amendments considerably increased the content and uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S by lemon grass. Maximum increase in uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S was observed with T5, followed by T4, T1, T2, and T3, indicating thereby superiority of T5 over all the treatments. Thus, effect of farmyard manure, green leaf manure, varmicompost, poultry manure and NPK alone or in combination were very useful in enhancing the status of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S of soil and crops.
