Abstract
The salivary gland cells were little affected by the colchicine treatment. The larval period in most cases was prolonged. The absence of a spindle and the lack of a typical equatorial plate was observed. The chromosomes were clumped in the colchicine affected cells. No true anaphase was observed. Definite polyploid areas in the brain tissue showing the increased number of chromosomes were often visible.
