Abstract
In the current era of globalization, multinational corporations or local businesses are not in a position just to focus on generating profits, sustainability has become a major concern among companies. The companies are forced to conduct ethical practices in order to avoid negative feedback from the general public. The different stakeholders such as consumers, employees, government, nearby communities and the media are forcing the businesses to conduct business practices in a sustainable manner. This paper deals with the awareness levels of the employees about the corporate social responsibility activities being taken up in the organisations with special focus on environment related activities. The paper aims to test whether there are any differences in the employee awareness levels in the public and private sector organisations. The findings indicate that there exist differences in the awareness of the employees of the organisations from both the sectors. This has an impact on the employee perceptions in the long run. As a result, corporations need to take an account of the employee awareness about the CSR activities in their organisations.
