Abstract

Studies were made up to assess the effectiveness of the integrated approach for the management of brinjal shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis Guen. By using different treatment alone and with the combinations i.e., Neem gold + R&D of infested twigs/fruits and fallen leaves twice in a week + Bt (T2), Trichogramma chilonis (T3), Beauveria bassiana+ T. chilonis (T4), Neem gold + T. chilonis (T5), Bt (Halt WP) (T6), NSKE (T7), cypermethrin (TB), imidacloprid (T9) and untreated check (T10) at S.V.B.P.U. A & T. Meerut U.P. The attack of L. orbonalis caused shading of flower buds and bored holes of fruit plugged with excreta with maximum shoot damage of 12.12 and 11.B1 per cent and fruits 33.15 and 33.54 per cent on weight basis during both the years. Removal and destruction of infested twigs/fallen leaves twice in a week + Bt @ 0.5 kglha showed minimum infestation of shoot (1.23 and 1.13%) and fruits (1.10 and 0.90%) and produced maximum healthy fruits over rest of the treatments in managing the shoot and fruit borer infestation is followed by neem gold @ 2 mill + mechanical removal (T1). Cypermethrin @ 0.016% and imidacloprid @ 0.015% were found next effective treatment in order of efficacy. The maximum yield of marketable brinjal fruit and maximum avoidable losses were found in treatment T2 whereas, minimum yield was recorded in T. chilonis treated plot.
