Abstract
The present investigation was conducted with antioxidants to find out their efficacy on the physiological and biochemical changes of petals during vase life period of cut rose cv. First Red. Among the antioxidants tested, ascorbic add @ 150 ppm proved to be the best free radical scavenging agent in protecting the membrane lipids of rose petals from peroxidative degradation thereby maintaining the cellular integrity. This in turn prevented a drop in peduncle water potential (yw) which led to increased flower opening and vase life.
