Abstract

Extracted from text ... TWA May / June 2005 - 35 Relative to air freight, the cost of sea freight has seen more increases in the past year, especially concerning shipping from the Far East. Oriental shipping costs have traditionally been very low, but recently increased several times to be on a par with European shipping tariffs. By comparison, air freight costs have remained relatively constant, making the air transportation of low metric volumes cheaper than routing by sea. Road freight remains the single biggest expense item in the freight forwarder's books, with the accumulative cost of delays at southern African border posts still ..
