Abstract

Gasification of coal is a viable technology for the production of a fuel which is environmentally acceptable for application in industrial plants. The technology and economics of producing medium Btu gas in plants with capacities ranging from 20-40 billion Btu/D for distribution to several industrial users within 100 miles of a centrally located gasification plant has been studied. The study indicated medium Btu gas could be produced at approximately /4.50-/5.00/million Btu exclusive of transportation costs.
