Abstract

Diallel crosses among 10 soybean varieties from different ecogeographic regions were studied in F1 generation. Both general and specific combining ability variances were significant. The higher magnitude of GCA variance indicated the importance of additive and additive × additive components of genetic variance in the inheritance of these characters. Parental performance as judged by GCA effects has indicated that ‘EC 27500’, ‘Hernon-49’ and ‘EC 7034’ were best general combiners for a majority of traits.
