Abstract

The performance of the 44 hybrids developed by Line x Tester cr ossing was estimated for heterosis, over KRH-2 in respect of seed yiel d and its contributing characters. The analysis of variance indicated hig hly significant differences among genotypes and hybrids for all the characters. The hybrid IR68897A x KMR 3 showed standard heterosis and heterobeltiosis fo r panicles per plant, panicle weight, 1000 seed weight and grain yield. Relati ve heterosis for grain yield per plant ranged between -57.26 to 421.22 coupled w ith significant heterobeltiosis from -59.89 to 364.41. The standard heterosis r anged from 65.52 to 204.52 for grain yield per plant. Based on per se performance and standard heterosis, the hybrids IR-68897A x KMR 3, IR-68897A x IR -60199-BB-2-1R, IR-68888A x KMR 3 and IR-68897A x IR-65912-90-1-6-3-2-3R were identified as the superior hybrids for panicle length, grains p er panicle and grain yield.
