First record of threadfin bream, Nemipterus zysron (Bleeker, 1857) from Andhra Pradesh Coast

Abstract

Threadfin breams, a major demersal resource \nof Visakhapatnam region is represented by a single \ngenus Nemipterus and is fished extensively by \ntrawlers. Five species of this genus viz., Nemipterus \nmesoprion, N. japonicus, N. delagoae, N. Iuteus \nand N. tolu generally contribute to the fishery of \nthe region. A sixth species, Nemipterus zysron was \ncollected and identified from the catch at \nVisakhapatnam Fishing Harbour on 15th July 2008.
