Typography Sketchbooks by Steven Heller & Lita Tararico

Nearly 120 of the world’s leading typographers and graphic designers open up their private sketchbooks to reveal their creative processes. Arranged by designer, this collection reveals how the world’s top typographers and designers strive to find new and exciting ways of communicating through letters and words. Aimed at all those who use type, whether by hand or on screen, and selected by the world’s most knowledgeable and well-connected graphic design commentator, Steven Heller, this survey gets into the minds of designers who create typefaces, word-images and logos through their private sketchbooks. I contributed to this review of typographic sketchbooks of the world's leading designers. My contribution draws from over 20 years of typographic sketchbooks as part of my on going practice in Communication Design. Other designers featured include Javier Mariscal,Erik Spiekermann, Gary Panter, Milton Glaser, Maira Kalman, and Jeffrey Keedy. Steven Heller is the leading design writer and is internationally acclaimed for his numerous publications on design issues. He also writes for publications such as Eye, Communication Arts, Print and Creative Review. He was previously the Art Director for The New York Times Book Review. He is the author or editor of over 100 books on design and popular culture.
