Significance of Expression of RECK and MT1-MMP and Their Correlation with Suppression of the Tumor Metastasis in Hepatoblastoma* SUN Jian1, DONG Qian1, SUI Ai-Hua1, YAO Ru-Yong1, YU Dan2 (1: Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital, Qingdao 266000, China; 2: Qingdao Children Hospital , Qingdao 266003,China) ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the expression of kazal motifs (RECK) and membrane-type1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) in hepatoblastoma and their correlation with metastasis and suppression in the tumor. Methods: PV-6000 immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of RECK and MT1-MMP in 35 samples of hepatoblastoma tissue, 15 cases of normal liver tissues and 10 cases of benign liver tumor tissues. Results: The expression of the RECK protein in the hepatoblastoma decreased significantly(28.6%). The expression of the MT1-MMP in the hepatoblastoma was high (54.3%) and increased with the increase in the extent of invasive depth and metastasis (P<0.05). There was a negative correlation between the expression of the RECK and MT1-MMP in hepatoblastoma ( P < 0.05). Conclusions: RECK and MT1-MMP may play important roles in the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis of hepatoblastoma and serve as markers in the estimation of the extent of metastasis and dissemination of the hepatoblastoma.
