Abstract
A field study conducted during rabi 2002 to study the productive performance of maize + greengram intercropping at different NPK levels. The crop growth, yield components and yield of maize + greengram intercrop were significantly affected by fertility levels at 125% RDF to maize in the intercropping situation. Higher yield of maize in intercrop situation was recorded with an extra 25% RDF to the base crop. As regards the intercropping treatments, paired row planting of maize + four rows of greengram resulted in higher yield due to complementary effect of legume and better utilization of environmental resources. Results of the study have clearly indicated the need for application of 125% RDF to the base crop in intercropping situation with paired row planting practice for increasing the productivity of maize + greengram on clay loam soils of Bapatla.
