Abstract

Potato tubers in storage is attacked by Fusarium rot of potato caused by Fusarium solani Mart. A study was also undertaken for the management of fungal rot of potato with some fungicides. It was revealed from the study that different concentrations of fungicides brought about considerable reduction in the colony diameter of Fusarium solani and lesion diameter on potato tubers under in-vitro conditions. Amongst all the fungicides carbendazim proved highly effective in reducing the colony diameter of Fusarium solani(l00%) followed by hexaconozole, bitertanol, myclobutanil, mancozeb, captan and zineb respectively. Higher concentration proved effective than lower concentrations. Similarly, significant reduction in rot severity caused by Fusarium solani on potato tubers due to different concentrations of tested fungicides. The carbendazim proved highly effective in reducing the rot severity followed by hexaconozole, bitertanol, myc1obutanil, mancozeb, captan and zineb respectively. Higher concentration of fungicides caused more reduction in rot severity than lower concentrations.
