Abstract

2-Methyl- and 2-bromo-3,4-methylenedioxypargyline are novel potential monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. Their activity and MAO-A/MAO-B selectivity were compared with those of pargyline and 3,4-methylenedioxypargyline. The compounds were shown to be highly active, irreversible inhibitors of MAO but without MAO-A/MAO-B selectivity.
