Abstract
The Lost Decade of Japan has been an enduring and confounding economic puzzle. \nDefying Monetarist and Keynesian expansionary measures, the economy remained \nstagnated for more than a decade. Compared to Japan's swift rise as a world economic \npowerhouse in the postwar years, the stagnation appears more confounding than ever. Economics takes us as far as identifying the problems at the macro and even micro levels. Beyond the economical realm, politics complements by explaining rational choices and decision making amongst the players in Japan that has shaped the \neconomy to the eve of the asset bubble crash of 1990 and determined the nature of \nresponse that very much formed the economics of Japan's Lost Decade.
