Abstract
Zinc sulphate, mixed with hydrated lime, was sprayed on new growth flush. Three sprayings of growth substances—Napthaleinacetic acid (NAA) and 2,4-dichloro-phenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) were done after fruit set at weekly intervals to check fruit drop in ‘Purbi’ litchi. The results show that both NAA at 10 ppm and 2,4-D at 15 ppm in combination with 1.0 per cent zinc sulphate gave significantly more fruit retention at harvest. 2,4-D at 20 ppm induced injurious effect killing a large number of fruits.
