Abstract

The present studies were carried out during January 2005 to May 2006 at the Experimental Farm of the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P). The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with 17 treatment combinations, replicated thrice with 10 plants per replication in carnation (Dianthes caryophyllus Linn)cv. Sunrise. Treatment combinations consisted of the use of biofertilizers namely, VAM, Azospirillum and PSB; inorganic fertilizers and biostimulants namely, Manchurian mushroom tea and Panchagavya. Treatment consisting of common basal dose + 3% Manchurian mushroom tea produced maximum stem length, flower size and 'A' grade flowers based on stem length, whereas, maximum plant height was attained with common basal dose + vermicompost (500 g/m2 twice a year) + 3% Manchurian mushroom tea + 3% Panchagavya. Treatment consisting of 50% required dose of fertilizers T2 resulted in maximum flowering period and common basal dose + 3% Manchurian mushroom tea + 3% Panchagavya was effective in increasing vase life.
