Hibernating larvae of the common frog ( Rana temporaria ) in the Netherlands

Abstract

Hibernating larvae of the common frog ( Rana temporaria ) have not been reported before from the Netherlands. In this article the first reported case of hibernating larvae of R . temporaria from the Netherlands is presented. A unique combination of uncommon weather conditions and sheltered location has likely favoured the hibernation of R . temporaria larvae.
