Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) season of 1999–2000 and 2000–2001 to study the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus levels on growth, yield attributes, yield and oil content of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L) Czern. and Coss.). Significant increase in number of siliquae per plant upto 120 kg N/ha and number of seeds per siliqua upto 80 kg N/ha resulted in significant increase in seed yield upto 120 kg N/ha. N levels did not affect Siliqua length and 1000-seed weight. With addition of nitrogen above 80 kg N/ha reduced the oil content. Response to phosphorus was observed up to 80 Kg P2O5/ha with respect to seed yield and oil content.
