Abstract
Studies were conducted to find out the influence of moisture stress, submergeice and autotoxicity on seed germination and also herbicidal control of Eupatorium odoratum L. Fresh leaf extract of the weed was autotoxic to its own ?eed germination. Germination was reduced with progressive increase in concentration (2.5 to 15%) of leaf extract and no seeds germinated beyond 20% concentration Eupatorium tolerated drought up to a moisture stress level created by 10% of polyethylene glycol while tolerance for submergence was up to three days. Treating the plants with 1:1 mixture of 2,4-D (both amine and ester foimulation) and paraquat at 4000 ppm caused cent per cent mortality.
