Abstract

This study was conducted at the Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad in Northern Transition Zone of Karnataka (India) on red sandy loam soil during kharif 2011. The seed rate of 50 kg ha−1 recorded significantly higher dry matter (5.34 t ha−1) and crude protein yield (713 kg ha−1) compared to other seed rates. Application of 25 kg N and 50 kg P2O5 ha−1 recorded significantly higher dry matter (5.35 t ha−1) and crude protein yield (717 kg ha−1) over other fertilizer levels. A treatment combination of 50 kg seeds ha−1 with 25 kg N and 50 kg P2O5 ha−1 recorded higher dry matter (5.52 t ha−1) and crude protein yield (741 kg ha−1) compared to all other treatment combinations.
