Abstract

Relationship between different population densities of Meloidogyne javanica on growth and host infestation of blackgram was studied. It was found that 500 larvae/kg soil of M. javanica reduced the plant growth characteristic significantly. None of the varieties was found resistant to the above nematode. Thimet (Phorate 10G) used @ 6% as seed treatment was found effective in reducing the formation of egg masses and thus in turn reducing the fecundity of the nematode on blackgram.
