Highlights of Annual Report

Highlights of Annual Report details the summary of the annual report given out by Gosford District Hospital. The hospital operated at a loss of ₤1,718 this was offset by a grant from the Hospitals Commission. A Medical Superintendent is to be appointed and a tender was accepted for the construction of a new ward block, boiler house and laundry to be finished by 1966. Tenders are also called for a Medical Superintendents cottage and a new nursing home is required. Thirteen positions for trainee nurses and five other positions are required for the new wing and advertisements will be placed. The daily average of occupied beds increased from 61 to 62.5 and visits from District Nursing Service has risen. Donations from hospital auxiliaries and other committees are greatly appreciated. Serious thought is being put behind constructing a kiosk at the hospital by the hospital auxiliaries. A Regional Advisory Committee has been formed between Wyong, Long Jetty, Woy Woy and Gosford Hospital Boards. A grant of land has been obtained for the purpose of a holiday home at Bateau Bay for the nurses. Appreciation is given to all involved with the hospital in particular Gosford Police, Brisbane Water Ambulance Service, Rotary and Apex.
