Abstract

Twenty two varieties of brinjal (Solarium melongena L.) were evaluated against shoot and fruit borer, (Leucinodes orbonalis Guen.) under field conditions in replicated field trails from 1972 to 1975. The mean percentage of shoot and fruit infestation and loss in yield indicated that varieties S4, H4, Pusa Purple Cluster, S6, Punjab-Chamkila (S5) and Pusa Purple Long were comparatively more resistant to borer damage at 5 per cent level of significance, whereas varieties Local and Punjab Bahar were most susceptible.
