Abstract
The effective planning of process plant maintenance should begin prior to and continue during the design of the facilities. The paper presents a systematic approach to the incorporation of maintenance considerations into the design of the plant, based on RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analysis techniques. Significant savings can also be made in both new and existing plants by effective maintenance management and by a systematic approach to the planning, scheduling and controlling of day-to-day maintenance operations. The savings result from increases in maintenance labour productivity, decreased parts inventory and higher plant availability. User friendly and effective computerised programs are available to assist in maintenance management.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
