Abstract

The ratooning ability of eight mid-late maturing genotypes CoP 92184, CoP 92186, CoSe 92429, CoSe 92423, CoSe 92430, CoSe 92437, CoSe 92440 and Co 92032 was assessed with respect to cane yield, growth parameters and quality attributes against two standard varieties CoS 767 and BO 91 under Bhat soil. The fertilizer application, irrigation and cultural practices were given to the ratoon crop under recommended practices. The soil type of experimental plot was calciorthent with 8.76 pH. The results showed that CoP 92186 was excellent in cane yield (77.16 MT/ha) and stalk length (201.00 cm) followed by CoSe 92423 (69.54 MT/ha) for yield. Variety CoSe 92429 was found to be the most promising genotype forquality character like sucrose The number of millable canes was highest in CoP 92184 while, CoP 92186 possessed maximum purity coefficient compared to checks. CoSe 92423 exhibited better performance than standards CoS 767 and BO 91 for stalk length, stalk diameter, stalk weight, cane yield, brix, sucrose, purity coefficient, CCS% and CCS t/ha.
