New species and combinations in Podachaenium (Asteraceae, Heliantheae)

Abstract

A new species from Chiapas (Reserva El Triunfo), Podachaenium chiapanum B. Turner & Panero, is described and illustrated, and the new combination, P. standleyi (Steyermark) B. Turner & J. Panero, is made.The latter occurs in Guatemala and has been considered to be sjrnonymous with the Oaxacan species P. pachyphyllum (Klatt) S.F.Blake by recent workers.Characters which distinguish these several taxa are listed.Along with the widespread P. eminens, the genus now contains four species.
