Abstract
>The distribution of nitric acid between water and a 5% solution of TBP was investigated in relation to the concentration of nitric acid in the aqueous phase. The experiments revealed the oxonic character of extraction of nitric acid with TBP, and the existence of four complexes is postulated. TBP dissolves in 95% nitric acid to form one phase. This is the basis for an approximate quantitative determination of TBP in mepasine. (auth)
