Abstract
The present experiment was conducted at Student's Instructional Farm (SIF) of N.D. University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad in normal soil underirrigated condition in a Augmented Block Design during Rabi 2010–11. The experimental material constituted of 96 germplasm lines and three check genotypes viz., PRT 7, PRT 12 and Vikrant. Analysis of variance shows existence of very high degree of variability for all the characters studied in the germplasm. Seed yield per plant showed highly significantand positive correlation with number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, biological yield per plant and harvest index. Further, path analysis revealed biological yield per plant and harvest index as important components having high order of direct effect on seed yield and number of pods per plant, number of branchesper plant, number of seeds per pod, plant height, 100-seed weight and protein content exerted substantial positive indirect effect on seed yield via biological yield per plant.
