Abstract
Seventy four genotypes of maize (51 hybrids, 20 parents and 3 checks) were evaluated under four environments to test their stability. Variance due to genotypes, environments, genotype x environment interaction were found significant for oil content, starch content and protein content. Hybrid HP (A) 25-1-1 x X2W 3997-2-1-1 is found stable for starch content as well as protein content under favourable environments (timely sowing at Udaipur and at Banswara). Like wise, hybrid HP (A) 2-3-2 x X2W 3179-1-2-4 for unfavourable environments( late sowing at Udaipur and at Banswara) and SLT 32-3-1 x X2W 3997-2-1-1 for favourable environments showed stability for oil content as well as higher per se performance. Thus, hybrid HP (A) 2-3-2 x X2W 3179-1-2-4 for oil content and hybrid HP (A) 25-1-1 x X2W 3997-2-1-1 for starch and protein content appeared promising for adoption.
