Mode of application of micronutrients to potato in acid soil of Garhwal Himalaya

Abstract

Relative efficacy of micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B) was studied by three methods viz. soil application, foliar spray and seed soaking in an acid soil (Inceptisol). Micronutrients applied alone or mixture significantly increased the tuber yield over control. Methods of application had differential effect on potato yield. Soil application was superior to other two methods and the response varied with the nutrients application. Mixture was inferior to individual nutrient. Among micronutrients, B recorded highest tuber yield, uptake of Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn an.d B by tuber and starch content. Available Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B status in soil was higher after crop harvest. The uptake of micronutrients and starch were mainly affected by methods by individual nutrient or mixture.
