Abstract

This article analyzes approaches to the theory of the firm that were developed within the framework of strategic management: theory of positioning, the resource-based approach, theory of dynamic capabilities, and the concept of knowledge, as well as the theory of open innovation. The author shows how to interpret the basic ideas of these approaches from the perspective of the economic theory of the firm, and he identifies a number of concepts that allow for the expansion and enrichment of the economic theory of the firm.
