Abstract

Bamboos form an important component of the rural landscape in Assam and fulfill diverse needs of the rural populations. It has been seen that the people of Assam producing different types of products especially furniture and it has become one of the budding form of entrepreneurial activities. In this context, this paper examines the structure of new venture owned by entrepreneur engaged in producing bamboo based finished goods in Barpeta district of Assam by taking a sample of 50 respondents. This analysis reveals that especially furniture made of with bamboo in that area is bright and through this venture the economic position of rural people can be uplifted. Further the government is required to play a pivotal role by providing different assistance like financial support, awareness creation, establishment of sufficient number of organized market etc.
