Abstract

Abrricultural output in Western Europe continued at a high level in 1974.Led by larger wheat output, grain production reached a new record.Output of nearly all livestock products increased.Higher beef and veal production reflected increased slaughter resulting from higher cattle inventories and a severe cost/price squeeze.Policy was highlighted by a large increase in target and support prices in the European Community for 1974175.U.S. abrricultural exports to Western Europe surged to a record $7 billion in 1974.
