Abstract
To understand the relationship between the distribution of submerged hydrophytes and water quality, the flora of hydrophytes and physiochemical characters of water, including temperature, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity and pH, were investigated in Asan city, Chungnam, Korea. As the results, 18 taxa of hydrophytes were collected in Asan city. Among them, 5 taxa, Potamogeton crispus L., P. malaianus Miquel, Hydrilla verticillata(L. fil) Royle, Ceratophyllum demersum L. and Myriophyllum verticillatum L., were submerged hydrophytes, and their distributional patterns were not similar each other. Hydrilla verticillata and Ceratophyllum demersum were more euryhyric than others. Potamogeton crispus was distributed where showed more or less lower conduc-tivity and higher pH, whereas Myriophyllum verticillatum was where showed higher conductivity and lower pH.
