State Revenue Growth Finally Stronger at the End of 2003

Abstract

The author reports that state tax revenue for the October-December quarter of 2003 grew by 7.2 percent compared with the same quarter in the previous year. State tax revenue declined from July 2001 to July 2002. Since then it has been growing, but it is only with this latest quarter that revenue growth has matched the median growth rate of 6.6 percent from 1997 through 2000.
