Abstract
The field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2010–11 on pigeonpea, Cajanus cajan L. with an objective to find out the efficacy of newer insecticides like Novaluron 10% EC, Indoxacarb 15% SC, Thiacloprid 21.7% SC, Thiodicarb 75% WP and Endosulphan 35% EC against Plume moth, Exelastis atomosa (Washingham); pod fly, and Melanagromyza obtusa (Molloch). The results of the study indicated that all the treatments were significantly superior over untreated control in reducing E. atomosa and M. obtusa population and less grain and pod damage. Amongst the treatments, the treatment with novaluron @ 75 g a.i./ha proved to be the best treatment reducing population of to a minimum extent of 0.55 larvae/plant, pod damage (8.75%), grain damage (22.75%) and highest grain yield (1686 kg/ha). It was at par with the treatment indoxacarb @ 21.75 g a.i./ha.
