Abstract

A field experiment conducted at the experimental farm, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya. Palampur during the kharif season of 1992 and 1993 revealed that closer row spacing of 22.5 cm coupled with pre-emergence alachlor at 1.0 k.g/ha yielded minimum dry weed biomass (7.5 g/m2) in 1992 followed by pre-emergence c1omozom at 1.0 kg/ha (91.57 g/m2 - Mean of two years). Maximum grain yield (16.93 q/ha) was recorded with clomozom at 1.0 kg/ha during 1992. whereas it was highest with metolachlor Dual at 1.0 kg/ha (29.47q/ha) huring 1993, ent clomozom at 1.0 kg/ha produced yield (25.62 q/ha) which was at par with f1uchloralin at 1.0 kg/ha during 1993. Clomozom at 1.0 kg/ha was found to be the most effective herbicide in controlling weeds except weed free treatment during 1993 and soybean planting at 22.5 cm + alachlor at 1.0 kg/ha during 1992.
