Abstract

Indoxacarb 15EC was evaluated during 2007–08 and 2008–09 in replicated field trials at three dosages i.e. 250, 375 and 500 ml/ha for management of H. armigera on berseem seed crop. It was compared with spinosad 48SC @ 0.150 l/ha (standard I) and endosulfan 35 EC @ 2.5 l/ha (standard II), and an untreated control. The mean post-treatment larval population at 2 days after spray was 2.77, 2.12 and 0.11larvae/m2 in the lower, medium and higher dosages of indoxacarb, respectively as compared to 0.17 and 0.62 in the two standards. The mean per cent increase in seed yield of berseem in treated plots over control was 72.0, 140.2, 291.1, 284.8 and 266.4 in indoxacarb 15EC @ 250 ml/ha, indoxacarb 15EC @ 375ml/ha, indoxacarb 15EC @ 500ml/ha, spinosad 48SC @ 150ml/ha and endosulfan 35EC @ 2.5l/ha, respectively. Indoxacarb 15EC @ 500ml/ha, along with the two standards, proved effective in protecting berseem seed crop from damage by the gram caterpillar.
